Exacty one week to go before we take off from The Key School, 7 Rhodes Avenue, Parktown, Johannesburg, to the Vera School, Rondebosch East in Cape Town, via the Northern Cape - one teacher Pieter Kleynhans on a bicycle, one parent Shaun Murphy on a bicycle, one principal Jenni Gous (me!) driving a support vehicle, one father of a parent in a support vehicle, Roland Murphy, and Zane, another driver come jack-of-all-trades!

We are 90% done thanks to Leigh Murphy who has been beavering in the background, Nita Kleynhans and Shaun Murphy. Some accommodation is still needed in Lime Acres, Warrenton and Springbok, otherwise workshops have been arranged in Bloemfontein, Kimberley, Lime Acres, Kuruman, Kathu, Upington, Aggenys, Vanrynsdorp and Piketberg. 15 assessments are to be done in Upington at 3 schools from the 16 - 19 April. Booklets will be distributed on disability and autism.

There are still a lot of myths surrounding the understanding of disability. We are hoping that our trip will change attitudes about disability and will bring children out of back rooms into the sunlight where they can receive the intervention they need to live lives that are meaningful.
